We continue to lift our spirits in cyber, keeping our music exchanges alive and well under the veil of SIP. Ironically, in keeping with the times, many students have asked to study more somber works. Schumann’s “First Sorrow, from the composer’s Album for the Young, is a popular pick. Next is Chopin’s mournful B minor Waltz, Op. 69, No. 2, followed by Beethoven’s Adagio from Sonata, Pathetique, Op. 13. (Even the Major Key of Ab can be melancholy)
For the most part, I’ve been posting tutorials, lesson in progress excerpts, and a few interspersed performances on you tube, preserving a Zoom-less sharing among my pupils. They delight in knowing that we are all on the learning spectrum, growing in baby steps without hovering deadlines. Life goes on, in and out of cyber.
New additions to my piano room include the 23 inch HP Monitor that I showcased in my last blog. Only this week, an Anti Blue Light Screen Filter arrived that “blocks excessive harmful Blue Light, reduces eye Fatigue and eye strain.” A boon for eye health!
My tripod bearing Logitech cams remain intact at opposing side overhead angles to the keyboard: Treble and Bass. One is favorable for fingering views. The other well highlights the floating arm, supple wrist relationship to the keys. All pedagogically positive.
Cutting to the chase, here are some sample postings that keep us musically sane amidst our solitary confinements. For good measure, I’ve inserted a lighthearted canine inspired video morsel that was captured Online, during a lesson in progress. (It is purposely soundless)

My “Colors of Rhythms” video hearkens back to my Oberlin Conservatory days when my beloved mentor, Inda Howland, Associate Professor of Eurhythmics, embraced idea of “color” infused rhythm. Her rolling triplets, realized in floor motion, and at the keyboard were unforgettable. And who could not revel in her imagination filled prompts many of which I borrowed in “elf-like” finger staccati.
